It is with great sadness to notify you that Mel Birken has passed away on Monday, February 17. She will be missed by all of her dear friends at TAS and Sisterhood . We send our thoughts and love to her husband Les, and her loving family.
Since the temple service is being held at 3:00pm Thursday (temple notice to be sent shortly), we have made the decision to cancel our Sisterhood event scheduled for Thursday night, February 20th. Thank you for your understanding.

Sisterhood's January meeting will be a fun TRIVIA NIGHT! We are doing this event together with MoTAS, so bring your spouse, your significant other, and/or your kids! The fun takes place on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 7pm in the TAS Social Hall. This is not Sisterhood's regular night, so mark your calendar! Please RSVP to [email protected] by Monday, January 27. In fact, why don't you RSVP today while you are thinking about it? You can always change your RSVP if something comes up.  Save the date Our Sisterhood is invited to join WRJ President, Karen Sim, CEO, Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch and the WRJ Executive and Budget Committee for Shabbat Services on Friday January 31, 2025 at Temple Beth Hillel. (7:00pm in Valley Village). Shabbat dinner will be served before services at 5:30 for a cost of $36. It would be nice to see many of our board members attend. Others in our Sisterhood are also invited and I will send out the official invitation as soon as it arrives with registration information. I wanted you to be aware of this event so that you can put it on your calendars.

Our Holiday Boutique is Sunday, November 24th. We are still looking for a few volunteers to help for an hour or two. See the attached sheets(Bake Sale, Baked Goods, Cashier) for the openings then contact Robyn Blachman at 818 970-5632, if you are able to help. PLEASE don’t forget to fill your shopping carts on this special day and help our temple at the same time. There are many new and prior vendors this year, so plan on doing all of your holiday shopping. TAS Sisterhood members and friends:

We are very excited to hold our upcoming Paid Up membership event on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 7:00pm. Please see the attached flyer for details. In addition to our traditional celebration and service, we will be eating waffle pops with toppings - yum! There will be gluten-free waffles available. RSVP by October 13 to Sandy at [email protected]. Jo and Jim's address will be provided when you RSVP. If you haven't paid your Sisterhood dues (or joined as a Friend of Sisterhood), you can bring a check to the meeting and save yourself the trouble of mailing it in. We look forward to seeing you on the 17th! Bingotini last Saturday was a roaring success! Almost 80 people came and we had a lot of fun. Much thanks to Brian Hatkoff for being a great MC, and to Scott and Sue Press for their excellent martinis. Also to those that helped with setup, check in and clean up - Carol Stern, Robyn Blachman, and Sue Press. A special shout out to Dany Margolies, Naomi Kokason, Doreen Hawbecker, and Tova Burg for their donations - your support is much appreciated! And of course, kudos to our Bingotini committee, Carol Bizar-Morton, Sue Cohen, and Jackie Zev for making it all happen.
Don't forget that Thursday, September 19th is our September meeting where WRJ Pacific District Board Member Margie Meadow will present insights on the rich history and current projects and activities of our parent organization, the Women of Reform Judaism. You will be impressed and amazed at what a difference your membership in Sisterhood makes on a National level. We will also be presenting and voting on the proposed Bylaws amendments at our September meeting. An email was sent on Sept. 6 with the changes. Review the changes beforehand, and we will answer any questions you might have. Hope to see you Thursday! The Sisterhood Board has recommended changes to our Bylaws to make them more clear and consistent with how we are currently operating. Contact us for a copy of the Bylaws with the changes indicated, and a document summarizing the changes and giving the reason for each change. We will be voting to approve the changes at our September meeting. Please review the changes and feel free to ask questions.
