Have you voted yet? If so, thank you for exercising your Constitutional right. If you have not voted yet, and are confused or unsure about the ballot propositions, please join us on Sunday at 2pm for our Zoom event with League of Women Voters’ speaker Fran Lapides. Our TAS Social Action Committee and Sisterhood are joining together to bring you this informative event.
Fran Lapides will be providing an unbiased look at the propositions, advising as to what they actually mean, who is backing them, and what the results will be if they pass. This is an informational meeting, and is non-partisan.

Our TAS Sisterhood Paid-up Membership Event is fast approaching. It is scheduled for Thursday evening, November 19, 2020 at 7:00pm. We are planning a wonderful and interactive event and would like to include you in it. We would like members to celebrate each other by inviting you to create a very short, no more than one minute, video, with a small group of friends to record what Sisterhood means to you. Your group could read a poem, show a picture, sing a song, read a rhyming or prose passage, etc. Videos should be submitted to Efrat Yakobi, [email protected], by Sunday, November 1, 2020. We want you to be creative, go wild, and do the unexpected. 🥂
And, if you haven’t already done so, please officially join Sisterhood for 2020-2021. Participation on November 19 will require paid-up status and an RSVP. We want to celebrate with you! More information coming soon. Sincerely, Sandy Robinson, Co-VP Membership Committee Tammy Singer, Co-VP Membership Committee Karen Jaye, Co-VP Programming Committee Dori Hoffman, Co-VP Programming Committee Cheryl Frumes, President of TAS Sisterhood P.S. The TAS Sisterhood membership packet email went out August 12, 2020 or you may use the following link to join. https://www.tassisterhood.org/join-us.html We have been asked by Ben Tenn from the Membership Committee of the Temple if we would participate in a survey being conducted by CSUN students to assist us with marketing. The e-mail from Ben is set forth below. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey so that we can help our community grow.
Unfortunately, the link to the survey would not transfer to this e-mail, so please check your Friday e-mail from TAS for the direct link. =============================================================================== A group of students from the David Nazarian College of Business at CSUN has taken on TAS and the issue of membership for this semester as a class project. They have created a survey and provided a link to it in Friday's email newsletter. Would you please ask families with religious school students, TASTY members and those in Sisterhood to please go to their Friday newsletter and click on the link and take this quick and easy survey? It will be a mitzvah for the students and potentially of great benefit to TAS. Thank you. The more people or respond, the better for all. Ben On behalf of the Membership Committee How can we better your TAS community experience? A team of marketing students from The David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge, are conducting a survey of everyone who receives this Temple Ahavat Shalom newsletter. We encourage you to take this survey and share your experience with TAS! It is hard to believe it’s October! But we have several fun and educational programs planned for the next couple of weeks.
SUKKOT – 10/08/2020 – 7pm First, is our annual Sukkot celebration, being held this Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 7pm via Zoom (see flyer below). Given COVID restrictions we are prevented from our usual celebration at the home of Jo and Jim Schwartz, and we will seriously miss their beautiful Sukkah and the lovely evening it always turns out to be. I have it on good authority, however, that this week’s event will be great. We will be joined by Rabbi Becky and Cantor Ken, for story and song. Refreshments will have to be provided individually. Be sure to check your email for the Zoom link to be provided later this week. BALLOT MEASURES – 10/18/2020 – 2pm In conjunction with the TAS Social Action Committee we are pleased to have our own Fran Lapides, representing the League of Women Voters with us once again. Fran will be reviewing the ballot measures on November’s ballot to give us insight into the issues, the pros and cons and the impact of each of the ballot measures. Please feel free to share the link that will be provided with any of your friends or family who are interested. WRJ-PD CONVENTION – 10/24 TO 10/25 – VIA ZOOM As a reminder, Women of Reform Judaism, Pacific District Convention is being held via Zoom from 10/24/20 – 10/25/2020. Registration is free, although they are requesting donations. Here is the link to the WRJ-PD website which provides registration information and an idea of the programs being offered. I encourage all of you to attend as much of the convention as you can. It is a very worthwhile experience. Registration is at www.wrjpacific.org. Registration is open until 10/19/20. A Final Thought “We have no understanding of the energy that God planted within our souls. Therefore, God has to test us to bring forth those treasures that are buried deep within ourselves and make us unique.” Rebbeztin Esther Jungreis Take Care and Stay Safe, |
