Hello! and Apologies!
I know I JUST emailed everybody, but there's something very important I forgot to add!! Mel Birken has been giving tours of the New Year's Day Parade floats for many years, and she's back at it this year! Did you know that? One of the groups building a float is the Lion's Club. They have some amazing programs. One of them is providing eyeglasses and hearing aids worldwide! They acquire donated glasses, repair them, and travel to areas of need. They examine eyes and distribute needed glasses all at no charge! She has asked us to bring our old eyeglasses to donate to the Lion's Club. What a fantastic opportunity for us! I know I have many, many pairs of old glasses lying around. So.... one wrapped present, one unwrapped item for the women's shelter, and old glasses. I feel really good about this, donating to really good things and having a fun night. And dessert, of course. It's better to give than to receive!!! This Thursday the 15th is our annual Hanukah party and gift exchange!
We are doing things a little differently this year, so be sure to read this whole email and review the flyer! We are asking everyone to bring a new, unused, wrapped gift that will fit in a grocery store paper bag AND an item for a women's shelter. The flyer has a list of ideas for items needed at the shelter. So..... one gift valued at $15-20 (no white elephants please)..... and one item for the women's shelter, not wrapped. We will have Hanukah desserts, a raffle auction, and a "wishing well." This is such a fun event, and this year we are focusing on the fact that "it's better to give than to receive"!!! |
