Calendar, Pictures and Haggadah

What a whirlwind of great events March was!  The rest of the year will be not have quite the same pace, but there are still a bunch of great events coming.  On Thursday, April 19, we will celebrate Israeli Independence day.  Sunday, April 29 is our Pala trip (sold out), Friday, May 11 is Sisterhood Shabbat, Thursday, May 17 is our storytelling meeting, Sunday, June 3 is our Volunteer Recognition Lunch, and Sunday, June 24 is our next MahJongg Tournament.  So mark your calendars!

There are no pictures from the Author event (due to the power outage) or the Women of the Wall event (because we didn't take any) but there are pictures from the seder and the MahJongg Cruise on our website.  Explicit directions on how to find these pictures are attached.

The Haggadah we used in the seder is also on our website.  Here are instructions on how to find it:

​In honor of our celebration of Israeli Independence Day on April 19 (you are coming, right?) here are some fun facts about Israel:

1. In 1991, during the Gulf War, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra played a concert wearing gas masks as scud missiles fired by Saddam Hussein fell on Tel Aviv.
2. Israeli cows produce more milk per cow than almost any country in the world, vying only with South Korea.
3. There are over 100 sushi restaurants in Tel Aviv making it the city with the most sushi restaurants per capita after Tokyo and NYC.
4. Israel was the first country to ban underweight models.
5. With peanuts introduced to their diets earlier (mostly in the form of the snack, Bamba), babies in Israel are 10 times less likely to suffer from a peanut allergy than Jewish children in the UK.
6. The opening scene of the Al Pacino film The Insider was shot in Israel.
7. There’s a rollerblading party that happens every Tuesday night in Tel Aviv.
8. There are more than 40 kosher McDonald’s in Israel. The only one outside the Jewish state is in Buenos Aires
9. With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and start-ups, Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world.
10. People can easily float in the Dead Sea due to its unusually high salt concentration. It’s almost impossible to dive into it.
